New England Shore Line

What makes New England a healthy regional community?  Is it community development, the economy, urban sprawl, environmental health and/or smart growth?  As you consider what it takes to gain people's interest in local, regional, ethnic and/or cultural communities, you might also compare those communities in and around regions, across countries and then perhaps across global regions.

TRY YOUR HAND AT MAPPING NEW ENGLAND NEIGHBORHOODS

Use census data from 2006 to compare with today. Back then in Boston's Roxbury and Dorchester, the Asian population was 1% ( city-wide 7%); the Black population was 60% ( city-wide 23.5%); the Hispanic population 17%
(city-wide 14.4%) and the White population was 16% ( city-wide 49.5%). What will you find locally and regionally?

COMPARATIVE MAPPING
Local to Regional Inclusion

Using the simple comparison above as a method of study you can begin to look at regional versus local relationships across race, gender, class, home ownership and more to find out how your community compares by state and\or by region. We've benchmarked 2006 as a starting date to make an important range of evergreen census data continuously available on a short sheet. You can extrapolate further research back in history or forward into the future to make points, draw conclusions or just have fun..

We've also provided regional links to the USA Map of Regions, World Macro Regions, US Embassy and United Nations
so that other general studies and comparisons can be made from region to region. Have you ever though about how New England compares as a region to some of the world's other regions?
