"Once I understood what was causing intergenerational disenfranchisement, I defined a few benchmarks for solving some of the exclusionary issues I was seeing. At the time, word of my research began to spread and I was invited to interview and lecture at a variety of institutions working with all ages and segments of the population in Boston, from alternative and after-school education to middle school and pre-release programs. Overall, some fifteen thousand people made up the body of focus groups, classes, conferences and online training users that are the foundation upon which my findings shared in this body of work are based. I was enthused and hopeful because of the support and validation I was receiving, but the answers on solutions with enough impact to empower individuals to undo hundreds of years of unprecedented negative stereotyping eluded me for many years. Each module is both a journey of solutions that work, and an evolution of key insights that unfolded along the way. These works are designed to help you find answers and be further inspired to share and teach the power of voice. Without a voice in the participation of ones’ life, the individual being disappears." - Paula Robinson Deare |
