While the term community is widely accepted to describe places people live; variations in conversation use the term to describe intellectual, ethnic, creative, social, religious, occupational and other groups sharing common characteristics and interests. The distinction is a "community" is a unique group or location within a society or place where larger amounts of people or land exist.
Historically, communities of interest, culture and place have been inclusive or exclusive, depending on their gains and losses. War for the most part has defined exclusivity and peace typically inclusivity; similarly so with power, money, resource distribution, education, land use, etc.
